Do Magick December ’18: Day 14 – Time To Stop

I started the day with the full intention of completing So Many Things. In the end, the only thing that was completed was the reminder that the human body can only go so far without a break without breaking.

As my day came to a halt, I had a random taste on my tongue. Well, it was random at first until I analyzed what I was literally tasting in mid air.

The taste was hot and sharp and tangy and red. It was a taste that reminded me of steel heated to glowing. After a bit, I realized what my mind was mapping the taste to: The time-management seal.

After a work-week full of reminding me to go, Go, GO, the seal was now reminding me to stop. I needed a break, an afternoon to just chill and relax. Not to think about what I’m going to accomplish tomorrow, just to think about how pleasant the day is right now.

It surprised me, really. But on reflection, I concluded that the seal is working as intended.

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

Ecclesiastes 3:1 [KJV]

A time to be productive, and a time to be fallow. A time to drive for maximum output, and a time to be idle. I haven’t been doing that lately. I’ve been reminding my team members to take their breaks but I haven’t been taking mine. So the seal acted as a governor and applied the brakes just enough for me to notice and make the decision if to take the hint or not.

I’ll worry about tomorrow’s topics, tomorrow. I still have a few hours today to take it easy.
