Spelloween 2025: Day 13

Don’t mind me. Trying to get back into the groove of habits left behind. Today is October 13, 2025, and it’s time to have some fun. Each day of the month of October, I’m going to put together a little spell that involves one of my favorite tools: Tarot cards.

None of this is meant to be taken seriously, unless you want it to be so. All of this is in fun and with good intentions. All of this is meant to bring me joy. If you get some of that joy-juice as well, then all the better.

These spells are meant to be modified, adapted, used “as is”, or as inspiration for your personal rituals. Feel free to change them to suit your personal circumstances.

Day 13: 9 of Coins – As You Command

Gather the following:

  • The 9 of Coins card from a personal tarot deck. If elemental correspondence is a priority, then pull from the suit aligned with “Earth”. If using an oracle deck or other sortilege, use a card or token that corresponds to “command[ment]”, “assertiveness”, “audaciousness”, or “leadership”. This card may be separated from the deck for some time, so a copy or reproduction may be used starting in Step 6.
  • Tokens, be they paper, ceramic, plastic, glass, and/or metal. Choose tokens that will represent the things (abstract and/or concrete) that you want to call into or increase in your life. No more than five tokens should be collected.
  • A bag or container to place these tokens in for safekeeping. The container should close securely.

In my personal tarot use, the 9 of Coins corresponds to “acquired wealth” and “audaciousness”. Inherited wealth is in this card as well, but how the wealth comes together is not as important as the fact that there is wealth and substantial amounts of it at that. Think of it as an Onyx Credit Card. You don’t need to know the balance. You only need to know that it’s going to be taken care of.

But, what is wealth? Currently, it is measured as numbers on a balance sheet, not necessarily backed up by any tangible or physical equivalents. Herds of cows don’t lend themselves as a type of currency unless you are in a very particular area. In this day and age, wealth is not so much about what can be bought as it is what can be controlled.

So it’s time to assert yourself.

  1. Prepare your working area in your usual method. Once done, place the tokens representing the things you want to call forth into your life. Arrange them as if they are audience members preparing to hear you speak to them. (If you are going to use a reproduction of the card, place that card on the working area to the side.)
  2. Pick up the 9 of Coins tarot card. Speak to it, Tell it that it is your wand, and by your will you are going to draw the targets of your will under your command. Tell it that by your will, you are going to direct the forces that come to you. How you tell these things to the card, is best done according to your personal preference and meter (if any).
  3. Hold the 9 of Coins card to your face and close your eyes. Focus your will on the card until you can feel your effort reflected back to you.
  4. Open your eyes, and using the card as a pointer and selector, point to the bag/container and focus your will upon it. Declare that this bag/container is your steward, to oversee and direct what is placed within.
  5. Then call out each token and what they represent. Still using the 9 of Coins card as a wand, command the token, as if each token is a personal retainer specializing in what the token represents. As you call out each token and tell it what it is going to do in your life, place the token in your bag/container. Close the bag/container once all tokens have been secured.
  6. Place the 9 of Coins card (or its reproduction if present) in the middle of the working area, face up. Place the closed bag/container on top of the card. Tell your “steward” to manage the tokens and what they represent.
  7. Leave the card and bag/container on your working area for at least an hour. Afterward, you may move the card and bag/container to another place for safe-keeping.
  8. Even though the working is still ongoing, you may now release the working area from its dedication. If you used a copy of the card starting in Step 6, you may return the original tarot card to its proper deck.
  9. Once a week, repeat this ritual, but instead of collecting new tokens, pull out the tokens already collected and require them to answer for themselves. You may change your commands to them at this point, retire any that have completed their usefulness, and/or add other tokens to your steward’s employ.
  10. Once all the tokens have completed their usefulness, or if you wish to conclude the matter, repeat the ritual to call out each token and dismiss them. Once all tokens have been dismissed from your service, call out the bag/container and dismiss it as well. If you used the original card and not a copy, at the conclusion of this ritual, return the card to its proper deck.

What makes a person wealthy is not just having copious amounts of resources, it is also knowing what to do with those resources, how to get it done with minimum waste, and moving with intent to maintain those resources. If such work can be done in a wooish way, then why not?

Optional: Complete your flex with ice cream.
