Spelloween 2025: Day 22

Don’t mind me. Trying to get back into the groove of habits left behind. Today is October 22, 2025, and it’s time to have some fun. Each day of the month of October, I’m going to put together a little spell that involves one of my favorite tools: Tarot cards.

None of this is meant to be taken seriously, unless you want to do just that. All of this is in fun and with good intentions. All of this is meant to bring me joy. If you get some of that joy-juice as well, then all the better.

These spells are meant to be modified, adapted, used “as is”, or as inspiration for your personal rituals. Feel free to change them to suit your personal circumstances.

Day 22: 10 of Coins – Seeding The Legacy

Gather the following:

• The 10 of Coins (Pentacles) card from your tarot deck. As the card will be in use for some time, you may make a copy of the card or create a token in its stead using whatever methods work best for you.
• A coin in your local currency in as large a value as you can easily obtain. This coin will be spent or donated later so do not use a coin of significant emotional or financial value.
• An envelope, pouch, or other container that the card (or token) and coin can be kept in when not actively worked on.
• Optional: A candle that can be burned for a minimum of five minutes for ten consecutive days.
• Optional: While the ten-day period is required, it is optional to begin that ten-day period at the first sighting of the moon after the new moon. If your local weather conspires against you, then you can begin the ten-day period on the third night after the new moon.

The 10 of Coins is the harvest from which the Ace of Coins is obtained. A legacy is all fine and dandy to brag about, but if it does not produce the material that the next generation will need to keep going at a minimum, then there is no merit to it and it is wasted. Just as a farmer will keep some of the harvest to plant at the next cycle, so this spell uses part of what you already have at hand to begin the process for increasing your wealth later.

The spell:

1. After sunset, prepare your working area according to your usual custom. There place the card (copy or token), the coin, and the envelope. If you are also using a candle, then place that (and the candle holder, if using) as well. If consecration is a regular practice, then consecrate these items.
2. If dedications are a regular part of your practice, then dedicate the coin to whatever forces, spirits, and/or gods you associate with wealth. Wealth can include personal health, friend groups and networks, real estate and investments, but also the mental space to enjoy what you have.
3. Take the 10 of Coins and place it within easy reach of you, oriented “upright” and facing up.
4. If you are using a candle, place the candle on the other side of the 10 of Coins, but close enough that you can reach and control the flame easily in case of an emergency. Light the candle.
5. Pick up the coin and hold it over the 10 of Coins. Declare that you have taken this coin from the bounty of your legacy so that it may become a seed leading to a future harvest. You may make this dedication out loud or silently, and in the language and manner of your choosing.
6. Place the coin on the 10 of Coins card.
7. For the next several minutes, focus your thoughts on the coin. Using whatever method works best for you, work your will on the coin so that it is imbued with the purpose to create a harvest for you.
8. When the appropriate amount of time has passed, place the coin and card in the envelope and close it. (Do not seal the envelope, it’s just there to hold things.)
9. If a candle was used, extinguish the candle in such a way that you can light it again later.
10. Repeat Steps 1-9 for the following nine nights. You will complete this routine for a total of ten nights.
11. Optional: If you use candles, on the tenth (last) night, permit the candle to burn down and self-extinguish in a safe manner.
12. Keep the coin with the card (or token) until you are able to spend the coin as part of a regular transaction, or donate the coin. DO NOT KEEP THE COIN. You may donate it to any charity that spends donations. Do not “spend” the coin by selling it to a pawn shop. The point is that the coin (re)enters circulation.
13. Return the tarot card to its proper deck and dispose of the other materials in a safe fashion.

There an adage that states, “It takes money, to make money.” This spell is not about increasing luck, though that could be a side effect. This spell is not about removing debt, though that could be a side effect as well. This spell is about increasing the wealth that you already have, so once the coin is spent, don’t wait for the next winning lottery numbers. Go out and do those things that would earn you money. This gives a way for the harvest to come back to you.
