In the House of [the Moon], I submit a formal petition to the [Lord of the Moon]. To his annoyed chagrin, the [Lord of the Sun] enters to join the proceedings.
Me: “I’m filing this petition for [Action]. I request that it be approved for [these reasons that are a mix of logical reasoning and emotional egotism]. Yes, I’m aware my feelings are wrapped up in this, and am making the attempt to distance my feels.”
Lord of the Sun: “Aw, isn’t that cute. She’s actually asking permission!”
Lord of the Moon: “I should deny her just because she’s following decorum! Also, why is this petition necessary?”
Sun: “I suggested a thing…”
Me: “You blindsided me with it after I was already on the hook.”
Sun: “Well, yea. Sometimes you do have to be dragged into the classroom kicking and screaming. It makes moments like these when you’re actually behaving so sweet!”
Me: ~eye-twitch~
Moon: “Let’s go through your list of reasons for this petition. See if we can help you separate your feelings from your position.”
~ruthless inquisition montage~
Moon: “Your technical reasons are valid, however your ego soaks this petition completely.”
Sun: “I also question why you allow [rival] to treat you [in a certain manner] that you accept without comment, but in [this little matter], you are ready to bite the bit in two!”
Me: “With all due respect, gentlemen, different circumstances.”
Sun: “Still, you tolerate it. That negates your right to challenge this.”
Me: “I tolerate it because I have given [rival] permission to treat me thus for reasons that do not concern either one of you, nor this enterprise. Do not mistake compliance with submission. What is between [rival] and myself is not for your entertainment, gentlemen. ” ~bows~ “If I were as you suggest, Good Sirs, I would still be [in a very bad physical relationship].”
Moon: “You are more aware of yourself than I gave you credit for.”
Me: “Thank you, Sir.” ~bows~
Sun: “But still this petition is about avoiding offending your delicate sensibilities, no matter what self-awareness you have. I am not convinced.”
Moon to Sun: “You are more upset she saw through your schemes sooner than you had planned and are challenging them than by the asserting of her ego. It was not proper for you to attach this weight to her yoke. You knew what would come of it if she accepted it meekly and without complaint. As if [Rebellion] would tolerate it for long.”
Sun: “…”
Moon to me: “If I grant this petition without riders, would you accept it?”
Me: “To be honest, Sir, I expected you to rail against it and deny me for no other reason than I want it too much.”
Sun: “And what did you expect my vote to be?”
Me: “Also negative, because it was your idea in the first place.”
Moon: “She knows you well.”
Sun: “Not well enough. I will give my answer in a way she can not dismiss as vain dreaming. Upon waking, pull a [tarot] card [from a certain deck] for my answer.”
Moon: “Yes. This way she can not ignore the signs. My answer also will be in a card. Pull a card for yourself. Let us test your discernment and understanding.”
Sun & Moon: “Dismissed.”
