In the beginning…

Was fire and flood,
was chaos and order,
was male and female,
was this and that.

In the beginning…

Was a bored child,
was a scared adult,
was a wily elder,
was inspired speech.

In the beginning…

Was a consideration,
was a consultation,
was a conspiracy,
to soothe troubled friends.

In the beginning…

An answer was given,
that all knew was a lie,
but it made everyone smile,
and so it was told often.

In the beginning…

Is whatever you want it to be.
Is whatever you need it to be.
Is whatever holds you in the dark.
And is only theoretical at best.
