Outside pressures can squeeze a tribe to form. Corrupt government. Bridge washout. Zombie uprising.
Inside mechanics can force a tribe to remain as such. Financial control. Emotional manipulation. Safety of numbers.
Tribes of necessity are resilient only while the threat remains. Tribes of coercement fray in a stiff wind. Tribes that have come together voluntarily and embraces the diversity of its members are able to withstand the peaceful times and the troubling times.
Or so I think.
Yes, I’m dodging the question of what makes a tribe. I’ll need a pouch of Cavendish, a bottle of sipping whiskey, and an uninterrupted evening to mull that over.
