To Wit,
As Hermes did,
When at the court of Hades, he
Did present the pleading of Demeter.
Such mark of words he poured before that cold throne,
Did win Persephone.
To Wit,
As Shakespeare did,
When writing the voice of Hamlet, he
Did both vulgar and chaste, double spoken mean.
Such mark of words he poured and turned increasing madness,
Into driving clarity.
To Wit,
As Samuel Clemens did,
When he marked of Finn’s wet journey, he
Did twain him with world-wise Negro Jim.
Such mark of words he poured unflinching light o’er
Self deceived society.
To Wit,
As I have oft hoped to do,
When in burst of 140 characters, I
Do play the Fool with self striking syllables.
Such mark of words I pour quite free, thus practice reaching
For mastery.
