She said the ink color didn’t matter. That none of the colors mattered. All that mattered she said, was that the physical book held ink.
But she also said that the colors did matter. And that they only mattered if I gave them importance. If I needed the colors to be important, then the colors were important.
So as I looked up certain correspondences, I saw just how little the colors mattered. Everyone had their own opinion about the “proper” colors to use to represent Saturn, and these varied wildly between magic systems, pantheons, and copyright. Even within the same basic framework was a great variety of designated hues and descriptions. I concluded that what was written was far more important than what hue they were written in.
But as I finished up my little homework, I looked over the charts I had made and saw how very important the colors mattered. Because the hues spoke volumes about what was being written.
But only if you have eyes to see.
