Silly Girl, I Wasn’t Thru

Deep laughter echoing through worlds and dreams.
I know that sound so well.
I thought I would never hear it again.
My heart both rose and fell.

“I’ve sent you an invite, informal and vulgar.
Through muck and field, for you.
Don’t know why you’ve tossed away my number,
Silly girl, I wasn’t thru.

“I said to you, that bright August day,
When you dared step in my door,
I’ll do what I must to grant your desire,
I’ll do what I must, and more.

“Three months has passed, and while you’ve grown,
You still not have your wish.
Yet even so, you prepared for me,
That rum and cigars delish’.

“The fun is over, preparations are made,
Now the hard work does begin.
All the exterior has been prepped clean,
All that’s left is within.

“I’ll break you of your abusing ways,
Leave nothing left to chance.
Until in my court, then gay and free,
Your bones swirl a pretty dance.

“I won’t be nice, nor soft of touch,
While I do what needs be done.
You’ll rue the day you confronted me,
And the work that you’ve begun.

“But I told you then, that bright August day,
In words sharp as a bell.
The pain you’ll endure as you are reshaped,
Each one, I did foretell.

“So don’t be surprised, I hunted you down
As though you were my prey.
I see this through, your wish fulfilled,
I swore that August day.”

With eyes that sparkle, twinkle and shine,
He laughed at me once more.
He drew deeply on his stinky cigar,
Let the ashes fall on the floor.

While part of me wished to flee to light,
To stand in life giving sun.
I knew that bargains bound gifted and giver,
I’m stuck until it’s done.

My foolish pride had thought that day,
Twas I that drove the cart.
But now I’m reminded how fragile I am,
As he takes my soul apart.

But even as I’m scattered like pieces,
Across the earthen floor,
I know in the end, I’ll become someone greater,
Than the child I was before.

There is no fixing, without some breaking,
No cleaning, without a mess.
There is much my spirit has yet to learn, as I go,
From rags to royal dress.
